See below the different stages this illustration took.
2. Rough color: you can see this stage in action in the timelapse but its just slapping colors onto the picture and seeing whats appealing. The direction for this project required minimal background so I ended up discarding the atom bomb explosion.
3. Color comp: tightening up the colors and large shapes of the forms so that it’s pretty much a messy looking finished image.
4. Tattoo ideas: this was a fun addition to the cover. The tattoo on the figure has intentional designs that kind of tell the story of the game.
5. Painting! Making the messy parts look … well … not messy.
6. The finish!
